You may remember in a previous post ("Towards the Centre of the Earth") that Waterra UK was supporting the Aenigma caving expedition to explore some the deepest caves on earth in the Western Caucasus.
We are delighted to report that the expedition achieved its objectives and that Aenigma descended 2,150 metres into the Krubera-Voronya cave. We are even more pleased to tell you that the Leveloggers that we provided to the expedition team survived the descent. The team managed to record some fascinating data on water level fluctuations in the cave system, and have added additional units to study flooding patterns over the next year to improve the safety of further trips to deeper parts of the cave complex.
